Art Deco "Pendulette Comete Mystérieuse" Cartier, Paris, No. 114. Made circa 1920. Very fine and very rare, 18K gold, platinum and enamel, black onyx, rose-cut diamond and emerald-set, 8- day going, Art Deco strut desk clock with “mystérieuse” dial. Circular black onyx case with beveled edge, hinged gilt strut stand, folding winder. White champlevé enameled gold chapter ring bezel with radial Roman numerals intersected with gold flowerhead half-hour indexes, inner dot minute divisions, rose-cut diamond-set platinum border, glazed translucent green “guilloché” enamel revolving center, emerald and rose-cut diamond-set platinum hour pointer, minute pointer set with a pear-shaped ruby. Notes This model of the Cartier mystérieuse clock was among the most expensive of its type, with large emerald-set pointers to complement the green enamel.
