“Desk Clock and Barometer” Cartier, Paris, Londres. Made circa 1910. Very fine and rare, amethystine, silver, enamel and gem-set, eight-day going, desk clock with barometer. Accompanied by the original Cartier gold-tooled red morocco leather fitted traveling case. Triangular purple and white amethystine base fitted with the movement, the top with circular drum-type case for the barometer decorated with translucent green enamel over engine-turning, flanked by two white enamel and gold paillon cylinders, the ends set with moonstones, white enamel bezel decorated with gold stars, the corners set with cabochon stones. Silver, radial Roman numerals, outer dot minute divisions, engine-turned center. Gold "beetle" and "fleur-de-lys" hands. Barometer: white enamel with atmospheric pressure from 680 to 790 mm Hg, outermost weather description. Gold "arrow" pointer. 43 mm (19’’’), frosted gilt, 15 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, cut-bimetallic compensation balance with Breguet balance spring.
