Ref. 6062, Yellow Gold "Egyptian Dial" Rolex, "Oyster Perpetual, Officially Certified Chronometer", retailed by Serpico Y Laino, Ref. 6062. Made in the 1950s. Very fine and extremely rare, tonneau-shaped, self-winding, water-resistant, 18K yellow gold wristwatch with triple date, moon phases and a gold-plated Rolex buckle. Two-body, solid, polished, screwed-down case back and crown. Matte silver with applied yellow gold pyramidal and dart indexes, luminous dots, subsidiary seconds, outer graduation for the date in blue Arabic numerals, apertures for the days of the week, the months and the moon phases. Luminous yellow gold "dauphine" hands. Cal. 655, "Chronometer", rhodium-plated, 18 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, Super-balance timed in 6 positions, self-compensating Breguet balance spring. Dial, case and movement signed. Diam. 36 mm. Thickness 14 mm. From “The Collection” Notes Ref. 6062 Produced from 1949 to 1953, with 350 examples in yellow gold, 50 examples in pink gold and very few in stainless steel. This Ref. features a great variety of indexes; with the rarest being the diamond indexes and then the star indexes. Very few examples have black dials, and only two are known with black dial and diamond indexes. Watches with black dials always had the moon featured on a black enamel sky. Rolex produced only three references with full calendar: Ref. 6062 (the present lot, with Oyster case); Ref. 8171; and the Gold Precision Chronograph Moonphase Model
