Ref. 1601, Pink Gold "Datejust" Special Dial. Rolex, "Oyster Perpetual, Datejust, Superlative Chronometer, Officially Certified", Ref. 1601, case No. 714310. Made circa 1960. Fine and extremely rare, early, tonneau-shaped, center seconds, self-winding, water-resistant, 18K pink gold chronometer wristwatch with special dial, date and an 18K pink gold Rolex tile-link bracelet with deployant clasp with date stamp for 1957. Three-body, solid, polished and brushed, screwed-down case back and crown, faceted bezel, crystal with Cyclops lens. Matte gilt with line-engraved diaper pattern, applied faceted pink gold baton indexes and luminous dots, outer inclined reserve with minute/seconds divisions, aperture for the date. Luminous yellow gold "alpha" hands. Cal. 1560, rhodiumplated, "oeil-de-perdrix" decoration, 26 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, monometallic balance adjusted to 5 positions and temperature, shock absorber, self-compensating Breguet balance spring. Dial, case and movement signed. Diam. 36 mm. Thickness 12 mm. Approx. overall length 180 mm. Notes It is very unusual to find such an early Datejust with a nonstandard dial. Further, the watch is in unrestored condition and has a period bracelet that is almost certainly original.
