Le Moulin d'Or Louis Duchène & Fils, Genève, No. 54112. Made circa 1800. Very fine and rare, 18K gold, polychrome enamel and pearl-set pocket watch with windmill automata. 40 mm., frosted gilt full plate with flared turned pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement with micrometric potence adjustment, three-arm brass balance, flat balance spring, the upper pivot of the contrate wheel extended through the back of the case to power the windmill sails, pierced and chased continental balance cock, polished steel endplate, silver regulator dial. Movement signed. Diam. 47 mm. Notes A very similar watch by Duchène & Fils, No. 54812, but with adifferent Alpine scene, was sold by Antiquorum, Hong Kong, February 2nd, 2005, Lot 170. Louis Duchène & Fils Recorded from about 1791 to about 1820, they are known for coach watches with grande and petite sonnerie and calendar, repeating the minutes and quarters, watches with champlevé enamel and “fantaisie” watches.
