Louis XV Style LeCoultre, Geneve, retailed by V. Lejeune, 16 Rue de la Banque, Paris. Made circa 1900. Very fine, Louis XV style, 18K gold keyless pocket watch. Four-body, "Louis XV", the bezel decorated with alternating lozenges and flowerheads, the back decorated with an angel sitting in a garden with two doves. Hinged gold cuvette. White enamel, blue radial Roman numerals and gold painted star halfhour indexes, outer blue minute track and large Arabic five-minute numerals. Gold Louis XV hands. Notes This style of watch was occasionally made by the best Swiss watchmakers in response to the late 19th century fashion for the arts of pre-revolutionary France. The present watch is an almost perfect representation of the watches of the late Louis XV period but with the advantage of a keyless movement.
