"Spring Bouquet" Ilbery, London, No. 640. Made for the Chinese market, circa 1840. Very fine and rare, 18K gold, painted on enamel and pearl-set pocket watch with center-seconds. Three-body, "Empire", pearl-set bezel, stem and bow, hinged and sprung back cover with pearl set border and painted with a bouquet of spring flowers upon a pale green ground and within a turquoise and engraved gold scroll border. Hinged and sprung glazed cuvette. White enamel with radial Roman numerals, outer seconds track and Arabic quarter hour numerals. Blued steel "ovoid" hands. 44 mm, gilt "Chinese" caliber, foliate chased and engraved, standing barrel, jewels in screwed chatons, lateral lever escapement, three-arm polished steel balance, diamond endstone, index regulator.
