“Red Bouquet” Barrauds, Cornhill, London, No. 9829. Made for the Chinese market, the case with London hallmarks for 1819. Very rare and fine, large, 18K gold painted on enamel, pearlset pocket watch. Three-body, "Empire" with fixed cuvette, flat reeded band, split pearlset bezels pendant and bow, the spring-loaded back opened by a push-piece in the pendant and painted on enamel with a fine bouquet of flowers and foliage against a translucent red enamel background over wavy-line engine-turning, the scalloped border decorated in champlevé enamel. White enamel with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track, large subsidiary seconds. Gold "spade” hands. 48 mm, hinged, full-plate, gilt, going barrel, ringed cylindrical pillars, cylinder escapement with steel escape wheel, brass four-arm balance, flat balance spring with Joseph Bosley patented regulator, gilded cock pierced and engraved with scrolling foliage. Gilded dust-cap with finely engraved foliate border. Dial and movement signed. Diam. 60 mm.
