“Spring Bouquet” Bovet, Fleurier, No. 399. Made for the Chinese market, circa 1830. Very fine, 18K gold and enamel, center-seconds pocket watch with polished steel movement. Three-body, the bezels pendant and bow with champlevé enameled floral decoration, the back enamel panel painted with a fine composition of summer flowers on a pale blue ground. Hinged glazed gold cuvette. White enamel with radial Roman numerals, outer minutes/seconds track, Arabic quarter hour numerals. Blued steel "spade" hands. Mirror-polished and blued steel, "Chinese" caliber with free standing barrel, single wheel duplex escapement with steel escape wheel and bimetallic three-arm balance with wedge shaped and partly blued steel weights, flat balance spring and index regulator. Movement signed. Diam. 57 mm.
