“The Temple of Love” Hessen a Paris. Made circa 1785. Fine, large, slim, 18K gold and painted on enamel pocket watch. Two-body, “Directoire”, the bezel with translucent blue enamel and gold pailon decoration, the back decorated with a fine Royal blue guilloché enamel panel decorated with an en grisaille classical scene, gold paillon and white enamel border decorated to match the bezel. White enamel with radial Arabic numerals, outer dot minute track with Arabic five minute numerals. Gold "fleur-de-lis" hands. 45 mm., hinged gilt brass full plate, fusee with chain secured by a shaped bridge, verge escapement, gilt brass pierced and engraved continental cock with polished steel end-piece, index regulator. Dial and movement signed. Diam. 57 mm. To be sold without reserve Notes André Hessen worked in Paris between 1775 and 1791.
