Eberhard gold & Enamel Eberhard & Co. , La Chaux de Fonds, Switzerland, case No. 343489. Made in 1945. Fine and rare, rectangular, 18K yellow gold wristwatch. Two-body, bezel decorated with engraved floral and leaf pattern, straight lugs, hinged case back engraved: Presented to Mr. Raghoraj Singh M.A.L.L.B. Raja Chakradhar Singh - Ruler Raigrh State 6.3.45. Notes Although Eberhard & Co. is renowned for its chronograph wristwatches, gold rectangular examples made by them such as this one -- especially with decorative engraving and enamel on the bezel -- are very rare. This example was possibly a special order for the famed Indian Maharaja, Chakradhar Singh (1905-1947), who assumed power in Raigarth State in 1924. A noted scholar, artist, and patron of the arts, Chakradhar Singh had a particular love for music.
