Cartier Pendulette de Voyage a Repetition Cartier, Swiss, "Pendulette de voyage a repetition minutes", No. 2198. Circa 1910. Very fine and rare, silver, enamel, rose gold set and agate, 8-day going, minute repeating desk clock. Rectangular silver with white champleve enameled borders, entirely decorated with a translucent blue enamel, the bezel with white enamel dots, standing on a rectangular agate base with four feet and gold dot trim, the top with applied pierced diamond set gold monogram “M”, the sides with a white gold set diamond, shuttered winding holes, sugar-loaf push-piece. White enamel with Roman numerals, outer minute track with Arabic numerals at the quarter hours. Single-cut diamond set hands. Gilt brass by Nocturne, rectangular with going barrel, frosted and gilt platform with straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator, repeating on gongs activated by the push piece at the top. Dial signed Cartier. Dim. 73 x 59 x 50 mm. Notes Cartier is particularly well known for their clocks produced in the first half of the 20th century. This "Pendulette de voyage a repetition minutes" is a wonderful example of the craftsmanship and design of the Belle epoque period. The design and construction bear close similarities to cases made in the Cartier workshops of Prévost and Eugène Bako.
