Swiss, No. 20319. Made for the South American market circa 1890. Very fine 18K pink gold, hunting-cased, keyless minute-repeating pocket watch. Six-body, “bassine et filets,” front and back covers engraved with squares and leaves, vacant shield in the center, borders engraved with foliage, band chased and engraved in repeated pattern, gold hinged cuvette engraved with movement details, transparent back bezel for viewing the movement. Silver with printed radial Roman numerals, outer minute divisions, center and the outermost in applied gold floral decoration, subsidiary sunk seconds. Blued steel spade hands. 42 mm (19’’’), nickel, damascened, 28 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, cut-bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, repeating on gongs by activating slide on the band. Diam. 51 mm. Thickness 15 mm.
