Billinghurst - Judgement Of Paris Henry Billinghurst, London. Made circa 1765. Fine and rare, quarter-repeating, 22K gold repoussé and diamond-set pair-cased pocket watch. Outer: two-body, repoussé, by TY (master mark), finely chased with a scene of the Judgement of Paris, scroll border, pierced sound holes, the bezel decorated to match, thumbpiece set with a large rose-cut diamond. Inner: Two-body, “bassine” by HB (master mark), deep back, the band finely pierced and engraved with foliage and a grotesque mask. Gilt brass dust cap. White enamel with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track with large five-minute Arabic numerals. Pierced gilt hands. 32 mm, gilt full plate with tapered cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain, cylinder escapement, brass escape wheel, three-arm steel balance with flat balance spring, singlefooted cock, diamond endstone, finely pierced and chased backplate furniture, silver regulation dial, repeating on a bell activated by depressing the pendant. Movement and dust cap signed. Diam. 47 mm. Notes Henry Billinghurst Worked in Aldersgate Street, London. Free of the Clockmaker’s Company in 1757, died in 1777.
