Cartier - Pendule Mystérieuse Prisme Cartier, Paris, "Pendule Mystérieuse Prisme", No. 215354. Made in the 1980s. Fine and rare, silver and rock crystal mystery quartz desk clock. Accompanied by Cartier Box Rectangular fluted, the top part with 2 rock crystal prisms, hand-setting and battery cover in the base. White with painted radial Roman numerals in mirror image, inner minute track. Black epee hands. With quartz standardization. Case signed Cartier Paris and Imhof, dial signed Cartier. Dim. 55 x 57 x 96 mm. Notes The dial of these clocks can only be seen from a certain angle; from the back the clock appears to be empty. This is acheived by means of mirrors and crystal prisms, as in a periscope, for example. These pieces were originally made by Gaston Cusin (1937 patent). A similar clock is illustrated in “Le Temps de Cartier”, by Jader Barracca, Giampiero Negretti and Franco Nencini, page 186.
