Rolex 14k Gold Cosmograph Daytona “Paul Newman” Rolex, "Oyster, Cosmograph, Daytona," Ref. 6238. Made circa 1967. Very fine and rare, water-resistant, 14K yellow gold wristwatch with round button chronograph, registers, black bezel with tachometer, and a 14K yellow gold Rolex Jubilee bracelet. Accompanied by a service invoice dated 9/12/85. Three-body, solid, polished and brushed, screwed-down case back and crown, tachometer graduation on the black bezel to 200 units per hour. Notes Rolex reference 6238 was the first version of the Rolex Cosmograph and was produced from 1961 to 1967. The first example of ref. 6238 with an ‘exotic dial’ came on the market in the late 1960’s. Rolex ref. 6238 with the ‘Paul Newman’ dial is an extremely rare version of the watch.
