Cartel Clock with Calendar Joseph Vuale a Paris. Made circa 1870. Fine, Louis XVI style, gilt bronze, threetrain, 8-day going, cartel clock with quarterstriking on two bells and double calendar. Chased gilt bronze, with pierced sound frets and visible pendulum, chased foliage and berry swags, female mask above the dial, flaming urn finial hung with a ribbon, beaded hinged bezel. White enamel, convex, radial Roman numerals, outer minute divisions and Arabic five-minute numerals, outer red date ring with corresponding hand, inner days of the week and their respective symbols and corresponding hand. Pierced and engraved gilt hour and minute hands, steel calendar hands. 12 cm., circular brass plates, going barrels for the going and striking trains, anchor escapement, spring suspension, brass bob pendulum, the striking with hour and quarter count wheels on the backplate, three hammers on two bells. Dial signed. Dim. 72 x 35 cm.
