Inking Chronograph Patek Philippe & Co. , Genève, No. 86902, case No. 212407. Made in 1891, sold on January 31, 1916. Rare and interesting, silver keyless inking chronograph with 60-minute register. Accompanied by the Extract from the Archives. Three-body, “bassine et filets”, polished, push-button at 1 o’clock for start/stop, and at 1 o’clock for return-to-zero. White enamel with 60-seconds Arabic chapter calibrated to fifth of a second, 60-minute register at 12 o’clock. Typical pointer hand with ink bowl at the end and discharging pointer. Notes This is a fine example of the final development of the inking chronograph, invented by Rieussec in 1821 and perfected by Fatton for Breguet in 1823. Patek Philippe made a very limited number over a span of about 15 years, between 1877 and 1892.
