Fine and historically interesting, center-seconds water-resistant, stainless steel mid-size wristwatch with two-tone dial, Accompanied by a Rolex box, an article about the watch (in German) and a hardback copy of the memoirs of James Roberts. Two-body, polished, screw-down case back and crown, the back engraved “J.A. Roberts”, inclined bezel, concave lugs. Two-tone matte silver and gilt with luminous Arabic numerals, outer minutes and seconds divisions with Arabic five-seconds numerals. Luminous baton hands. Notes James Alan Roberts (1906-1990) was a Canadian general and diplomat. He led the Canadian Overseas Army from 1940-1946, and was Commanding Officer of the 8th Canadian Brigade in Holland. Mr. Roberts served as Canada's Deputy Minister of Trade and Commerce under both the Conservatives and the Liberals in the 1950's and 60's. He worked to secure Canada's large wheat sales to Communist countries. James Alan Roberts was Canada’s First Deputy Secretary General to NATO and became Canadian Ambassador to Switzerland and Algeria.
