Ref. 450, Stainless Steel Patek Philippe & Co, Genève, movement No. 816383, case No. 613063, Ref. 450. Movement made in 1927, encased in 1936 and sold on September 27th, 1939. Very fine and rare, rectangular curved, bombé, "Staybrite" wristwatch with two-tone dial. Accompanied by the Extract from the Archives. Two-body, curved, polished and brushed, the back engraved “CL”, bombé crystal. Two-tone silver with applied steel Arabic 12 and 6, subsidiary seconds. Stainless steel feuille hands. Notes Staybrite Is the name of a steel alloy containing 0.2% carbon, 18% chromium and 8% nickel. It is a stainless material that takes a fine polish and is therefore often used for making watch cases. It is probably the type of stainless steel that has been most widely used by watch companies from the 1930s onwards.
