Fine and rare, tonneau-shaped, center seconds, self-winding, water-resistant, stainless steel and pink gold wristwatch with a stainless steel and pink gold Rolex Oyster riveted bracelet with deployant clasp signed by Gay Frères. Three-body, solid, polished and brushed, screwed down case back and “Oyster Patent” crown, domed bezel. Matte silver with applied yellow gold luminous dart indexes, luminous dots, outer minute/seconds track. Luminous yellow gold alpha hands, blued steel seconds hand. 9 ¾’’’, rhodium-plated, straight line lever escapement, monometallic balance, Breguet balancespring. Dial, case and movement signed. Diam. 32 mm. Thickness. 13,5 mm. Approx overall length 170 mm. Notes This timepiece is a rare example with an original riveted bracelet signed by the famous firm Gay Frères. This type of case is called “bubble-back” by English speaking collectors. The Italian collectors call the watch an “ovetto” due to the olive like outline of the case. In period advertisements, this model is offered in 18K gold, stainless steel and 14K gold and in stainless steel. Ref. 5011 and 6011 are identical except that the 6011 has a “Super-Oyster” crown and the 5011 has a traditional Oyster crown.
