Athena Collomby & Girod, (Geneva), Made circa 1750. Very fine and rare, repoussé silver pair-cased pocket watch with mnemonic days of the week and astronomical months calendar and alarm. Outer: two body, “bassine”, the back decorated with a scene of Athena seated in a chamber and holding a spear, an owl at her feet, pierced and engraved foliate border with four cartouches of shells and fruit, the bezel decorated to match. Inner: two-body, “bassine”, the band finely pierced and engraved with scrolling foliage and centered by a grotesque mask, apertures for going and alarm trains. Silver champleve with radial Roman numerals, trefoil half-hour divisions, inner quarter-hour track, outer minute track and further Arabic five-minute numerals, outermost mnemonic days of the week and astronomical months calendar, revolving central alarm setting disc with Arabic numerals. Fine steel hands. 37 mm., hinged gilt brass full plate with square baluster pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement with plain brass three arm balance, short flat balance spring, pierced and engraved gilt brass continental cock and backplate furniture, silver regulation disc, foliate engraved fixed barrel for the alarm, steel train, sounding on a bell in the back of the case.
