Silver Cased – Polish Coat of Arms A. Lange & Söhne, Glashütte i/Sa, No. 64139. Made circa 1915. Very fine and rare, keyless, silver, pocket watch with 1st quality movement. Accompanied by a box. To be sold without reserve Four-body, "Lucia", solid, polished, the back cover applied with a silver coat of arms and engraved “Splawa” below, gold hinges. Hinged silver cuvette engraved “Andenken meines bei Martinpuich am 23.7.16 gefallenen Sohnes Dr. Hans v. Neyman geb. 18.11.85. zu Rastatt”. Three-piece white enamel with dauphine numerals, outer minute track, subsidiary seconds dial. Pink gold spade hands. Notes ALS-quality pocket watches signed: “A. Lange & Söhne, Glashutte b. Dresden”. ALS (A. Lange & Söhne) always denoted watches of first quality, whether under the “A. Lange, Dresden” signature or the later “A. Lange & Söhne, Glashutte-Sa”. Their movements had 16-20 jewels. Four jewels and the pallet-staff bearing were set in screw-held gold “chatons” and visible on the top plate. The balance staff had a diamond endstone. The balance cocks were engraved and the index had micrometer adjustment on a swan-neck spring. Only gold (and sometimes platinum) screws were used on the balance. According to the catalogue, Lange adjusted each movement in five positions.
