A La Breguet Mathieu, Place de la Bourse a Paris, No. 1826. Made circa 1830. Very fine and rare, quarter-repeating, 18K rose gold pocket watch with ruby cylinder escapement. To be sold without reserve Four-body, “Empire”, engine-turned “grains d’orge”. Hinged gold cuvette, the border engraved “Lenoir”. Silver, engineturned, radial Roman numerals on a brushed reserve, outer minute divisions. Gold Breguet hands. 44 mm., frosted gilt, jewelled to the third wheel, English-type ruby cylinder escapement with steel escape wheel, plain three-arm balance with parechute on the upper pivot, blued steel flat balance spring, index regulator with bimetallic temperature compensation curb, repeating on gongs activated by a pull-and-twist button in the pendant. Dial and cuvette signed, reverse of the dial punched ADLG. Diam. 50 mm. Notes This is a finely made watch directly in the style of Breguet and incorporating his parachute suspension and temperature compensation curb.
