Secular perpetual calendar Svend Andersen, Geneve. Made circa 2006. Fine and rare 18k white gold wristwatch with perpetual secular calendar. Accompanied by its original Scatola Del Tempo winding box, original certificate and instruction booklet. To be sold without reserve Two-body, polished and brushed, flared lugs, transparent caseback, sapphire crystals. Silver with engine-turned center, applied silver Breguet numerals, outer minute track, aperture for the date. The reverse with subsidiary dials for months combined with leap year indicator, century indicator and extra hand for precise year indicator. Blued steel epee hands. Modified ETA 2892, rhodiumplated, oeil de perdrix decoration, 39 jewels, straight line lever escapement, monometallic balance, shock absorber, self-compensating flat balance spring, index regulator. Dial, case and movement signed. Diam. 41 mm. Thickness 12 mm. Notes Based on the Gregorian calendar introduced in 1582, it adopted the system based on a year of 365 days with a leap year of 366 days every four years. Pope Gregory found this system to be inaccurate so corrected the calendar by 10 days and introduced a special secular leap year calendar. In this newly corrected system only years that were considered to be divisible by 400 are considered to be leap years. Therefore the years 2100,2200,2300 are not leap years and have only 28 days in February. Most of the perpetual calendar watches and clocks have normal leap year cycles and Svend Andersen’
