Exceptional, 18K yellow gold, keyless dress watch, with fully engraved movement and gold wheel train. Three-body, “demi-bassine”, polished. Matte silver, champlevé dauphine numerals, outer champlevé minute track, subsidiary seconds. Yellow gold Breguet hands. Cal. R.A. 17’’’ Bas, matte gilt, fully chased and engraved with ostrich feathers, 18 jewels, gold wheel train, wolf’s tooth winding, straight-line lever escapement, cut-bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring with overcoil, index regulator. Dial and case signed, movement numbered. Diam. 46 mm. Notes This watch is exceptionally rare and the movement is finished to a very high standard. A watch with an almost identical movement, but rhodium-plated and without a gold wheel train was sold by Antiquorum, Geneva, The Quarter Millennium of Vacheron Constantin, April 3, 2005, lot 178, for 18,400 Swiss Francs.
