Minute-Repeater 8-Day Desk Clock Vacheron & Constantin, Geneve, No. 112287. Made by E. Mathey, Switzerland, especially for Vacheron & Constantin, in 1929. Very fine and extremely rare, minute-repeating, 8-day going, silver and enamel keyless strut clock. Accompanied by the original Vacheron & Constantin fitted box. Rectangular with hinged strut, the front decorated with lilac-colored guilloche enamel within a white enamel border, winding crown at the base, gilt brass movement housing with hinged cover, folding repeat lever on the side. Matte silver with Arabic numerals, outer minute track, engine-turned center with engraved gilt leaf and berry decoration. Blued steel Breguet hands. 24’’’, rhodium-plated, fausses cotes decoration, 17 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator. Case signed and numbered. Dim. 11.2 x 8.7 cm. Notes According to the Vacheron & Constantin archives, this clock was commissioned by the firm in 1929. Clocks from this period sold by Vacheron & Constantin are extremely rare. The present clock not only has the extra complication of minute repeating but is also in particularly good condition. The original fitted box is a rare survival.
