The Yarn Winder Samuel Marti, Paris, No. 1676. Made circa 1900. Fine, small, Empire-style, gilt-bronze 8-day going mantel clock with hour and half-hour striking. Rectangular with square movement housing, rounded sides with laurel wreath mounts and surmounted by single-handed vases, the top surmounted by a lady winding yarn seated on a fountain, base with ribbon and flower mount, four flared feet. White enamel with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track. Blued steel Breguet hands. 78 mm., gilt brass, circular, going barrels for both trains, anchor escapement, spring suspension, brass bob pendulum, outside countwheel, striking the hours and half-hours on a bell. Dim. 28 x 20 x 8 cm.
