Moricand - Beautiful Lady Ch. t Moricand a Genève, No. 31850. Made circa 1780. Fine, 18K gold, painted on enamel and pearl-set, pocket watch with painted on enamel dial. Two body, the bezels set with split pearls, the back set with a painted on enamel portrait of a lady leaning over a pearl-set basket on a plinth decorated with gold paillons. White enamel, Arabic numerals, outer minute divisions with 15-minute Arabic numerals, the center painted with a putto holding a signature banner over a landscape. Gold hands. 39 mm, hinged, gilt brass full plate with turned pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement with micrometric potence adjustment, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring, continental cock with polished steel endplate, silvered regulation dial. Dial and movement signed, case numbered and punched SD on the pendant. Diam. 47 mm. Notes Christian Moricand (1715-1791) was a watchmaker who from 1752 to 1755 was associated with his brother Benjamin and François Colladon. Several other associations followed
