Omega Jumping Center Seconds Deluxe Precision Table Clock Omega, Swiss, No. 10600962. Made circa 1950. Fine and very rare, square, 8-day going, precision, gilt brass table chronometer clock with jumping center seconds, stop feature for exact setting and hand-cut decoration by Jean-Pierre Matthey-Claudet. Square brushed gilt brass, fluted sides, turned feet, fretwork foliate brushed gilt plate hand-cut by Jean-Pierre Matthey-Claudet over crimson ground surrounding the dial. Matte silvered with applied gilt baton indexes and Roman quarter-hour numerals, outer minute track with Arabic five minutes/ seconds numerals. Gilt feuille hands. Cal. 59.8-D SCS, copper-colored, 20 jewels, indirect center seconds mounted on the backplate, straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator. Dial and movement signed. Dim. 13 x 13 x 4.9 cm. Notes The present lot is a “Deluxe Table Clock”. The silvered dial of the table clock is surrounded by a branch decor, which was hand-cut by Jean-Pierre Matthey-Claudet. The 59 8-D SCS caliber (59 mm, 8 days, jumping center seconds) was patented on the 17th August 1942 (Swiss patent No. 229234), published January 3rd,1944 under the title (in French) “Timekeeper with Center Seconds”.
