Silver Singing Bird Box Attributed to Griesbaum, Germany. Made circa 1950 in the style of the late 19th Century. Fine, repoussé sterling silver singing bird box. Accompanied by a Griesbaum bird key. Rectangular with repoussé relief decoration of foliage and cherubs playing instruments, the hinged bird cover cast with a cherubs with a bird, foliate engraved base. Singing bird movement: going barrel, rectangular belows, Griesbaum whistle, the bird rotating and moving wings, tail and beak, controlled by a rack and two cams mounted beneath the barrel, gilt brass grille engraved with foliage, activated by a bird-form slide in the side of the case. Dim. 100 x 63 x 42 mm.
