Rolex Ref. 16520 - Daytona Floating Cosmograph – MK I Rolex, "Oyster Perpetual, Superlative Chronometer, Officially Certified, Cosmograph, Daytona", case No. R 900979, Ref. 16520. Made in 1987. Fine, self-winding, water-resistant, stainless steel wristwatch with round button chronograph, registers, tachometer and a stainless steel Oysterlock bracelet. Three-body, polished and brushed, screw-down case back, chronograph buttons and Triplock winding crown, tachometer graduation on the bezel to 400 units per hour, sapphire crystal. Bicolor black with silver subsidiary dial rings, applied luminous white gold indexes, subsidiary dials for the seconds, the 12-hour and 30-minute registers, outer minute and 1/5th seconds divisions. Luminous white gold baton hands. Cal. 4030, rhodium-plated, oeil de perdrix decoration, 31 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, monometallic balance adjusted to temperatures and 5 positions, shock absorber, self-compensating free-sprung Breguet balance spring, Microstella regulating screws. Dial, case and movement signed. Diam. 40 mm. Thickness 13 mm. Approx. overall length 180 mm. Notes This particular model was made in 1987 and is therefore one of the earliest Daytonas featuring a Zenith-made movement. Collectors recognize it immediately due to the floating cosmograph print on the dial as well as smaller details such as the “inverted” 6 on the chronograph 12-hour counter and the four dashes on the minute counter every 5 minutes, when later exam
