The Beetle Geneva. Made circa 1870. Very fine, 18K gold, enamel and diamond-set lady’s pendant form watch with concealed dial in the shape of a beetle. Accompanied by a black enamel and 18k gold pin. Four-body, spring-loaded wings, translucent blue enamel over engine-turning and set with diamonds, opening to reveal the dial, the neck set with diamonds, rose-cut ruby eyes, hinged realistically cast and chased underside, ring suspension loop. White enamel, radial Arabic numerals, outer minute track. Gilt spade hands. 25 x 21, heart-shaped, gilt, bar calibre, 8 jewels, cylinder escapement, three-arm gilt balance, flat balance spring, index regulator. Cuvette signed Genève. Dim. 49 x 23 mm.
