Japanese, late 19th/ early 20th century. An Imari ginger jar with second inner lid, decorated with in cobalt blue and rust with traditional cartouches around body of jar decorated with flowers, butterflies, prunus fruit, and landscape scenes, with a band around the shoulder of alternating cartouches decorated with flowers and medallions, and a lappet border around the base. Outer lid decorated traditionally with alternating cartouches of flowers and medallions, with a depressed disc at top of lid, and an inner lid with rust underpainted flowers around a gilt knob. Marks on inside of jar and on bottom of both lids. Approximately 7.5" tall x 3.5" diamater at base.
