OMEGA, REF. 641, LARGE AVIATOR'S SINGLE BUTTON CHRONOGRAPH Omega, case No. 6004441, No. 4679637, Ref. Kai 741AI. Sold on February 7th, 1918 to Sweden. Fine and extremely rare, large, sterling silver wristwatch with single button chronograph. Accompanied by an Omega extract from the archives Four-body, solid, pink gold chronograph olive pusher at 6. downward curved wire lugs, hinged caseback and cuvette. Enamel with black Breguet numerals, outer minute/ seconds and 1/5th seconds divisions, subsidiary dials for the constant seconds and 30-minute register. Blued steel feuille hands. Notes This watch marked a milestone for Omega as this was the fi rst generation of chronograph wristwatches ever made. It used the famed caliber 18”” that will be used continuously from 1906 until 1928. For similar examples see Omega, A Journey through time by Marco Richon, p. 525. It is also extremely similar to the Omega of Lawrence of Arabia sold by Antiquorum in November 2000 for a record amount at the time: Sfr 86,000.
