Very fine, 18K gold, painted on enamel and pearl-set keyless pocket watch. Three-body, Empire-style, bezel set with split-pearls, reeded band, the back cover decorated with a finely painted on enamel bouquet of flowers including peonies, roses and poppies, translucent royal blue enamel ground over engineturning, split-pearl-set border. White lacquer with radial Roman numerals, outer minute divisions, subsidiary seconds. Gold Louis XVI hands. Cal. L878.4, 17’’’, frosted gilt, 17 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, monometallic balance, selfcompensating flat balance spring, shock absorber, screw micrometer regulator. Dial and movement signed. Diam. 43 mm. Notes This watch is made in hommage to the watches made in Switzerland for export to China during the first half of the 19th century.
