Miniature Five-Minute Repeater Swiss, No. 7567, retailed by T. Kirkpatrick, New York. Made circa 1890. Very fine and extremely rare, miniature five-minute repeating, keyless, lady’s pendant watch. Four-body, bassine, polished, the back cover with a black champleve enamel monogram. Hinged gold cuvette. White enamel with Breguet numerals, outer minute track. Black spade hands. 10’’’, rhodium plated, fausses cotes decoration, 29 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator, repeating on gongs with two polished steel hammers. Movement signed T. Kirkpatrick N.Y. Diam. 28 mm. Notes Miniature repeating watches are extremely rare and most of those made are minute-repeating. The present watch is one of the smallest ever made and is highly unusual in being a five-minute repeater. A minute-repeating watch, by Leroy, 28 mm in size, was sold by Antiquorum, Geneva, November 12, 2006, lot 198.
