Rolex Ref. 1675 - Pointed Crown Guards Gilt Dial Rolex, "Oyster Perpetual, GMT Master, Superlative Chronometer, Officially Certified," No. 874490, Ref. 1675. Made in 1963. Fine and rare, two time zone, center seconds, self-winding, water-resistant, stainless steel wristwatch with date, special 24-hour bezel and hand. Three-body, polished and brushed, red and blue graduated bidirectional revolving bezel for the second 24-hour time zone, screwed-down case back and crown, winding crown protected by the pointed crown guard, crystal with cyclops lens. Black with luminous round, baton and triangular indexes, outer gilt minute/seconds track, aperture for the date. Luminous steel skeleton hands. Cal. 1560, rhodium-plated, 26 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, monometallic balance adjusted to 5 positions and temperature, shock absorber, self-compensating freesprung Breguet balance spring, Microstella regulating screws. Dial, case and movement signed. Diam. 40 mm. Thickness 13 mm. Notes To the best of our knowledge, radial dial GMT's were made in a very small batch. For unknown reasons, Rolex changed the size of the indexes, which are considerably smaller than those on matte-dialed 1675's. The minute markers around the dial are also significantly longer. Only recently discovered, they represent the perfect dial variation to add to a collection. For another example of a radial dial GMT see lot 61.
