Berthoud Diamond Rosette Berthoud a Paris, No. 8413. Made circa 1780. Very fine, large, gold, enamel, pearl and rose-cut diamond-set pocket watch. Two-body, bassine, split-pearl-set bezel, the back decorated with translucent royal blue guilloche enamel, gold paillon border, split-pearl-set outer border, the center with an applied rose-cut diamond-set rosette. White enamel with Arabic numerals, outer minute divisions, Arabic fifteenminute numerals, winding aperture at 2 o’clock. Gold beetle and poker hands. 42 mm., hinged gilt brass full plate with cylindrical pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement with micrometric potence adjustment, three-arm brass balance, flat balance spring, pierced and foliate chased continental type balance cock with polished steel end-piece, silver regulation dial. Dial and movement signed. Diam. 53 mm.
