Omega Olympic Grand Luxe Chronograph Skeleton Version 1972 Omega, "Julino 1972", Ref. MG 6715 S., the movement entirely hand-cut, filed, angled and chased by Jules-Henri Meylan. Made in a limited edition of 5 pieces only in 1972. Very fine and extremely rare, large, 18K yellow gold skeletonized pocket watch with split-seconds chronograph and 30-minute register. Three-body, massive, “pomme”, polished bezel engraved “Julino 1972”, grooved satin-brushed band, transparent back, co-axial start-stop in the crown, pusher in the band at 11 for the split-seconds, at 1 for hand-setting, anti-reflective optical crystals. Gold chapter ring with black baton indexes and radial Arabic numerals, outer silvered chapter ring with black seconds Arabic numerals and 1/5th second divisions, subsidiary chapter rings for the seconds and 30-minute register. Black and white baton hands. Skeletonized, gilt brass and brushed steel, fully handchased and engraved by Jules-Henri Meylan, 23 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, monometallic balance, self-compensating Breguet balance spring, swan-neck micrometer regulator, visible brushed steel chronograph work on the back plate. Diam. 66 mm. Thickness 22 mm. Notes This watch has remained in the familly of the original owner and maker Henri Meylan, until now. this is the first appearance of this watch at auction.
