French, mid-18th century (circa 1750) A Louis XV period beechwood fauteuil having a molded and carved crestrail with central flower spray over shaped rectangular back inset with caning and joining the volute molded and leather padded arms, enclosing the caned seat with overstuffed cushion centering a similarly carved serpentine seat, on cabriole legs headed with carved foliage and terminating in scrolled feet. Approximate height 32.75", width 24.5" (arm to arm), seat depth 19.5", seat height 14.5" (without cushion).
