Fine and rare, center seconds, self-winding, water-resistant, 18K pink gold wristwatch with cloisonné enamel dial depicting a map of the Americas. Two-body, polished, inclined bezel, concave lugs, screwed-down case back engraved: Recuerdo Saucedo y Carmona. Black with applied pink gold pyramidal, faceted baton indexes and Arabic 12, multi color polychrome cloisonné enamel on gold depicting North and South America. Pink gold dauphine hands. Cal. 1361, copper-colored, 17 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, monometallic balance, self-compensating blued steel flat balance spring, shock absorber, index regulator. Dial, case and movement signed. Diam. 35 mm. Thickness 11 mm. Notes Cloisonne enamel is often considered by collectors to be the finest of the dial-making arts. Rare, complex and fragile, these dials are valued for their vivid colors and imaginative designs. Produced mostly in the 50s by such companies as Huguenin & Cie, Stern Freres, and Charles Poluzzi, these dials were supplied to Rolex, Omega, Vacheron and Eska, among others. Similar enamel dials were often used by different companies. This Americas dial, for example, can also be found on the Rolex 6085, with almost exactly the same design.
