Fine and rare, square, 8-day going, precision, mahogany and gilt brass table clock with jumping center seconds and stop feature for exact setting. Square mahogany with brass-bound corners, gilt brass bezels and brushed gilt plate surrounding the dial. Matte silvered with applied gilt baton indexes and Roman quarter-hour numerals, outer minute track with Arabic fiveminutes/ seconds numerals. Gilt feuille hands. Cal. 59.8-D SCS, copper-coloured, 20 jewels, indirect center seconds mounted on the backplate, straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator. Dial and movement signed. Dim. 14.3 x 14.3 x 4.3 mm. Notes The 59 8-D SCS caliber (59 mm, 8 days, jumping center seconds) was patented on the 17th August 1942 (Swiss patent No. 229234), published January 3rd,1944 under the title (in French) “Timekeeper with Center Seconds”.
