ROLEX REF. 6611 DAY-DATE STEEL FOR THE GENEVA WATCHMAKING SCHOOL Rolex, "Oyster Perpetual, Day-Date, Superlative Chronometer, Officially Certified," No case number, Ref. 6611. Made in 1954. Fine and extremely rare, tonneau-shaped, center seconds, self-winding, water-resistant, stainless steel wristwatch with day and date Three-body, solid, polished and brushed, fluted bezel, screwed-down case back and crown, crystal with cyclops lens. Silver with applied faceted steel dart indexes, outer minute/ seconds divisions, apertures for the day and the date. Luminous steel alpha hands. Cal. 1066, rhodium-plated, oeil-de-perdrix decoration, 25 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, monometallic balance adjusted to temperatures and 5 positions, shock absorber, self-compensating Breguet balance spring. Dial, case, and movement signed. Notes DIAM. 36 mm. THICKNESS 13 mm. Rolex has always been of great help and support to encourage future generations of watchmakers just like they did when they open the new watchmaking center in Pennsylvania in 2001, entirely supported by the brand and completely non-profit. According to our research, Rolex back in the 1950's donated a very small series of steel Day-dates both in references 6611 and 1803 as tools to practice their skills on and therefore did not bear any serial numbers.
