CARTIER FIVE-MINUTE REPEATING MINIATURE DESK CLOCK Cartier, Paris- Londres, "Pendulette de voyage a repetition a cinq minutes", No. 1731, the movement by Nocturne, Swiss. Made circa 1910. Very fine and very rare, silver, enamel and agate, miniature, 8-day going, five-minute repeating desk clock. Rectangular silver, the sides, top and back overlaid with translucent green enamel over sunray engineturning, white champlevé enamel borders, shuttered winding holes, sugar-loaf cabochon moonstone-set push piece on the top, polished agate base, the bezel decorated with royal blue translucent enamel panels intersected by white enamel “pearls”. Convex white enamel with Arabic numerals, gilt outer minute track. Pierced gold fl eur-de-lis hands. Gilt brass rectangular with going barrel, frosted and gilt platform with straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, Breguet balance spring, index regulator, repeating on gongs activated by depressing the push-piece at the top. Dial signed Cartier, movement signed Nocturne, baseplate numbered. Dim. 69 x 52 x 41.5 mm.
