PATEK PHILIPPE, JEAN LURCAT GOLD SURREALIST BROOCH, THE GOLDEN FLEECE Patek Philippe, Geneve, No. 4. Made to the design of Jean Lurcat, France, circa 1958. Very fine and extremely rare, 18K yellow gold surrealist brooch. Accompanied by a Patek Philippe box. Notes This brooch is one of a small number made by Patek Philippe and the famous French designer Jean Lurcat (1892-1966) in the 1950s. Lurcat is best known for his revival of the art of tapestry making in the 20th century also often in the surrealist style. He designed only a relatively small number of pieces of jewellery and such pieces are highly sought after. Today, Lurcat’s brooches by Patek Philippe are regarded as works of art in their own right.
