SILVER SINGING BIRD BOX TABLE Attributed to Griesbaum, Germany. Made circa 1950. Fine and rare, Louis XV-style, solid silver singing bird box with integral stand modeled as a table. Two-body, serpentine rectangular, cast solid silver, the sides chased with vignettes of gamboling cherubs amongst fl ower garlands and trees, the top depicting cherub musicians in a woodland setting, the bird cover with a cherub conducting fl anked by two birds, bird-form activation slide, integral stand modeled as a table with winged cherub herm legs, laurel, quiver and torch trophies on each side, cross-stretcher with a cast and chased solid silver swan at the center. Rectangular brass, going barrel and rectangular bellows, the revolving bird with moving wings, tail and beak, controlled by two cams mounted beneath the barrel wheel, gilt brass grill pierced and engraved with foliage.
