Very fine and rare, quarter-striking and repeating, silver paircased, four-train coach watch with alarm. Outer: two-body, overlaid with shagreen, with sound holes and radial pin work decoration in silver. Inner: two-body, bassine, pierced and engraved around the body with scrolling foliage and masks. Silver champlevé with radial Roman numerals, outer Arabic minute ring with arched divisions, inner revolving alarm setting disc. Pierced blued-steel hands. 79 mm, hinged fi re-gilded brass full plate with engraved border, hexagonal pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, fl at balance spring, fi ne English type winged gilt brass cock pierced and engraved with fl owers and fl ower basket, pull, trip-activated repeating train, repeating, striking and alarm trains with gilded fi xed barrels engraved with geometrical decoration, striking on a bell in the back of the case, striking/silent lever at the edge of the dial. Dial and movement signed. Diam. 110 mm. Notes This watch strikes the quarters with a double hammer blow for each quarter and at the hour it fi rst strikes four double blows followed by single blows for each elapsed hour in the manner of a grande sonnerie
