Very fine and very rare, glass, chrome and leather, 8-day going Art Deco table clock with electric illuminated terrestrial globe", probably designed by Paul Dupré-Lafon. Glass globe overlaid with paper gores to a scale of 1: 50,000,000, fl uted columnar chrome base with apertures for the dial, fl at chromed plate with dentilled edge, square compressed leather base, electrical connection for the globe. Annular white and gray for the day and night hours, bold Arabic numerals, minute track above with 24-hour numerals. Red triangular pointers for the hours and minutes. Cal. 201, rhodium-plated, straight-line lever escapement, monometallic balance, self-compensating fl at balance spring, index regulator. Case signed on the base Hermès, Paris, 8-Jours. Dim. 33 x 24 cm Notes A particularly fi ne example of the famous Jaeger "Mappemonde" table clock. The case is of unusually high quality because it has been made to a design for Hermès, probably by Paul Dupré-Lafon – one of the most infl uential designers of Hermès timepieces.
