French style wingback armchair with shallow wings in front of arms with brass nail head tacking terminating on exposed wood arms with pickled finish decorated with acanthus leaves and scrolling. Overall raised on cabriole legs with shell encrusted knees terminating on hoof feet, legs joined by X form stretcher support. Shell motif at center surrounded by scrolled foliates. Overall upholstered in rust diaper patterned upholstery with artichoke motif. Approximate height 44.25", width (across arms) 27.25", depth 23.5", seat to floor 21.5". Provenance: From the Estate of Jane O. Day of Atlanta, Georgia.
